LAST HURRAHS OF 2015!

Two weeks before winter break
I set my intention to see the Aurora Borealis
and amazingly (of course!) everything fell into place!

We had an incredible visit to the
Enodah Wilderness Lodge in Yellowknife, Canada
http://www.enodah.com/

From Yellowknife,
after you put on the rented Artic clothing,
you drive in a bus about a half hour outside town
then you get in a crazy Hagglund,
a Swedish military vehicle,
and ride about 45 more minutes.

Despite frigid temperatures (around -23)
we went snowmobiling,
snowshoeing, dog sledding, and even ice fishing!
My ever-so-manly husband caught two!

Into the darkest of darkness on winter solstice
to see the light!

Unbelievably amazing!
I was in total awe!

Yes!!!
There was a quilt shop in Yellowknife called
The Quilted Raven.

That's a felted raven that lives by the register
next to some Aurora Borealis fabric.

Home has been chillier than normal with a bit of snow!
(Although, after Yellowknife a positive
23 feels quite balmy!)

This is my sewing view...

I've been doing a new years purge
of fabric and projects.
I sifted through a shelf of UFOs
and finished a few
and donated the rest.

Here's an odd one...

and a hint of my giant Vintage Spin from Kathy's class this summer!

Look what's going on the back...

I turned a stray place mat into a cute bag for me...

I found this pattern to be a bit addicting...

I think I'll use them as presents in the next workshop -
Tonye Belinda Phillips!

And finally finished
hand quilting this piece
started with Freddy years ago...

Wishing you much...

THE WONDER FROM DOWN UNDER - JEN KINGWELL!

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better
Jen Kingwell arrived!

Every quilt is totally scrummy!

She truly is a wonder from down under!
Happy,
charming,
and delightfully easy going!

I've included some
Jen's-quilty-pearls-of-wisdom
as accurately as my mind could grab them.

Enjoy!

Think about movement.
Think about scale.
Think about getting a balance YOU like.

Points are personal.

Jen loves a big design wall.
She is always changing things up
and switching pieces around.

Three inch churn dash is her favorite block.

Glitter is her favorite pattern.

It's all about
what is pleasing to YOUR eye.

On the first day she guided us on Flutterby.
This is Jen's...

I always covet
the stash of my neighbors!
(especially neat ones!)

Here's some of what we made.
The possibilities are endless!

On the second day she guided us on Steampunk.

Same block...
value play...
hmmmm.

LOVED seeing the shop through her eyes!

LOVED hearing how she loves life
and all it's wonderful blessings!!!

Thanks Jen!
Thanks lovely ladies in the class!
Till next time.

ingING ALONG

Living.
I've been busy.
Momming, dogging, and
teaching again this year - love it!

Growing
I am also taking a printmaking class.
Here's this week's print...

Enjoying!
Freddy was here again!
She was collaging...

and basketing...

There's always so much color!

I worked in the shop one day,
but got to play on day two!

Joyfully stripping!

Freddy has reinvented her self yet again!
She is the Madonna of the quilt world!
What an inspiration!

Smiling!
Who is coming next?
Jen Kingwell will be here Friday!
Trunk show at 6:30!
