I am officially on vacation!
My family has left for a week trip
to visit my husband's family...
NO
mom
or wife
duties for me!!!
Wahoo!
OK,
now what would be fun?
Island Quilter on Vashon Island!
(quilter's nirvana!)
and a delightful class with Joe Cunningham.
http://www.joethequilter.com/
The plan was to "Rock the Block".
Here's Joe showing his wonderful version.
Joe suggested we bring one yard of four different fabrics.
Since my stash is currently neatly at my disposal (!)
it was easy to find this favorite piece I have had for years,
always wanted to use
but never knew how
(have one some many of those?)...
it seemed like it played well with these stripes...
and maybe this sort-of-solid...
and...
drum roll...
these shark/goldfish!
Joe was a lot of fun!
He was charming and funny,
put everyone at ease,
connected with every student,
and guided us through
wonderful creative play.
(Yes, he even played guitar and serenaded us!)
Here he is
showing us how he plays with the blocks,
not on a design wall,
but on the table/bed/floor!
I was able to get in the flow
and rocked my blocks!
Joe imparted lots of quilting wisdom throughout the day.
The paraphrased bit
that is ringing in my head
this first-night-on-vacation is...
the color of a fabric is not defined until we see it playing next to other fabrics.
hmmm.....
something to think about and play with...
perhaps on day 2!
Wow Stephanie !
