Here in the Pacific Northwest
Mother Nature continues to be unsure if it's time for spring.
Most of the week was below 40*
and this morning we awoke to another light dusting of snow.
A lot of the week was spent considering hibernation options.
When the sun did peek out briefly, we ran to the beach...
and up north to the Skagit Valley to see the last of the Snow Geese...
and some very chilly daffodils!
I did manage a few more granny squares.
I like the varying sizes, but am unsure how they will go together.
I am slowly falling behind on the NY beauty quilt along
but what does get created is so yummy!
I also worked on a new "little".
That's me,
at peace
AND in the moment at the bottom of the lake,
safe
and unattached
to any of the happenings within the lake
or the weathering above the lake.
Eckhart Tolle in The Power of Now says...
"Having gone beyond the mind-made opposites (this is so key for me - I make up the "good" and "bad"!!!), you become like a deep lake. The outer situation of your life and whatever happens there is the surface of the lake. Sometimes calm, sometimes windy and rough, according to the cycles and the seasons. Deep down, however, the lake is always undisturbed. You are the whole lake, not just the surface, and you are in touch with your own depth, which remains absolutely still. You don't resist change by mentally clinging to any situation. Your inner peace does not depend on it."
OK,
drum roll please
ratatatat.......
Here's this month's giveaway!
A jelly roll of Sandy Gervais' Objects of Desire line.
I bought this thinking I would use it to make a basket, but batiks, since they are two sided, work better.
While I was organizing this week...
(can't you tell?!)
I discovered this jelly roll in my box of Christmas fabrics!
SO...
all can play
leave a comment about what the weather is doing in your neck of the woods
and/or become a follower.
PLEASE make sure I can contact you,
or check back to see if you won.
If last month's winner,
Chiska,
doesn't contact me by the end of this giveaway,
I will pick a second winner to win last month's giveaway!!!
As I finish this post,
the sun is shining!
Ahhhhhh....
I hate to say it but it is 67 degrees here in SE CT and...I ate lunch on the beach in my short-sleeved shirt...somehow though, it all evens out....I really like the "lake" discussion...very true, and sitting, watching the calm ocean with swans floating silently by really helped calm me....thanks for the opportunity....Julierose
ReplyDeleteSnow, wow. It's cool here in B.C. but the sun is shining and I'm thinking of taking my bike on the road. I will still need gloves and long pants, but it looks too nice to stay inside. Your granny squares look wonderful, I'll get around to some one of these days. Thanks for the great give away!
ReplyDeleteI am in central NY and it was 80 degrees yesterday. In the 70s today. I am very very happy with this weather. But actually I desperately want to move back to the pacific northwest, so your pictures of snow will keep me happy on this side of the country for the time being.
ReplyDeleteHere in the UK we woke up to a sharp frost this morning but then we've had sunshine and blue skies all day!
ReplyDeleteI'm a happy follower!
It has been unseasonably beautiful here. Winter is not even over and we have had wonderful spring weather-high 60's. It could turn back to winter any time, so we are enjoying it while it lasts! I am a follower.
ReplyDeleteWe are having gorgeous Spring weather here in Maryland! 70's, some days above, some below. Today was sunny most of the day but overcast now. The trees and daffodils are all blooming. I love it! I am a follower.
ReplyDeleteNormally we turn off the electric heat by April 1st, but I'm not sure if that will be happening this year. I'm in Marysville where it's still winter. I did go to the store today and bought my favorite sign of spring --- 5 bunches of Daffodils.
ReplyDeleteRain, rain, and more rain just north of you in Skagit Valley.
ReplyDeleteStephanie,
ReplyDeleteI tried to get your e-mail off your profile, but couldn't. I feel so dumb for having missed this! I'm going to blame it on first trimester pregnancy brain. Thank you so much! We're having snow here in Wyoming and much cooler temps than the last few weeks. I loved seeing the snow geese and daffy's!
:) So exciting to have so many happy ladies, in all kinds of weather, comment! We, again, are getting a mixed bag of sleet, rain, and sun in about 45*. Congrats to Chiska for Baby!!!! My email is kwiltzbystephanie@gmail.com not sure why it doesn't work....Let's see if a few more want to joint the giveaway. Winner, chosen by my youngest son, will be announced Friday
