BEGINNING OF SUMMER GIVEAWAY!

Can you feel the joy of summer?!

My oldest son is in Indonesia
for a month with his anthropology teacher!
My youngest son wants to "do nothing."
And my middle son loves to mountain bike.
So, off to Whistler in BC Canada we went!
(turns out you can do "nothing"
in a swimming pool
and while zip lining! Who knew?)

Lots of opportunities to practice
letting go
and trusting!
Luckily for son #2,
he lives far less fearfully than his mom!

From the site - http://www.whats-your-sign.com/symbolic-meaning-of-rainbows.html :

At its most basic reduction, the rainbow is an amalgamation of light - a perfect harmonic combination which produces a symbol of supernatural beauty, promise and enlightenment

The weather was fine, typical northwest mix of partly sunny,
or is that partly cloudy?
Until the ride home...
beautiful!

Shannon Falls

I can home reinvigorated fro the task at hand!
I am just loving it!
Turns out that the color I have the least of is...
purple!

Summer...
makes my mouth water
for cherries and my annual attempt at cherry pie!

In honor of the promise of
possibilities
I would like to have a giveaway!

7 fat quarters + a bit (third down is almost a fat quarter)
obviously, cherry themed!

And , just for fun,
since it's never to early to think about Halloween...

11 fat quarters of spookily fun Halloween themed fabric!

Just leave a comment telling me
what YOU get to do this summer
and which fabric tickles your fancy.

Next Sunday, June 22nd mountain biker son will pick the winners!

  2. Not sure if this is open internationally, but just wanted to say your photo's are lovely. Cherries are so good as well, currently we cannot walk 10 meters with our son without stopping again to pick some cherries, so many next to our roads. Fun! :)

No summer plans for me though, hoping some people will visit us an maybe we're able to plan a few last-minute weekend trips in between work.

  4. You are so fortunate living in such close proximity to Whistler! We visited the Canadian Rockies about 8 years ago and spent 2 weeks beginning in Victoria and traveling through the most beautiful country I've ever seen, staying at B&B's where the people were so welcoming and friendly. It was the vacation of a lifetime and we speak of it often with the friends who shared it with us. Spending time with grandkids and great grandchildren and awaiting the arrival of great grandchild #6 next month are the fun things scheduled for our summer fun, and it doesn't get any better than that. Love those beautiful cherries!

  5. This summer we will be staying close to home as I am expecting a baby in September and travelling will not agree with me. I plan to sew quilts, teach my kids to quilt and get ready for baby. The Halloween fabric is my favorite of the the two. Thank you!

  6. I get to go home to Alaska this summer with my whole family--something that we've not been able to do for about 8 years. So I'm really looking forward to that. I love cherries too and last year we canned sour cherries for pie and have enjoyed them a lot (my husband is our pie maker). So I'm looking forward to some fresh and getting some canned as well. The Halloween is my favorite. I love those spiders.

  12. Your photo of Whistler caught my eye, as I too have a son that loves to mountain bike. He is in college now, and still bikes every chance he gets. He will head up to Whistler with buddies when he is done with summer internship, before senior year starts…Your middles son is lucky that you were game for such a great trip!
We will spend summer ourselves as a staycation, and perhaps travel when the boys are both home over the winter time.
If I am lucky enough to win the giveaway, I would love the cherries…a little taste of summer!

  17. The Halloween Themed fabric tickles my fancy. This summer is my first with absolutely NO plans (other than sew, quilt, knit everyday). So we'll see what transpires: perhaps a trip to the lake to boat, camp and watch the fish jump, and feed the cat fish swarming the piers.

  18. I have no plans for this summer other than staining and sealing the deck, ton of yard work and painting the house and a few weekend trips around Missouri, Kansas and Iowa. Maybe a little trip to Texas to see my niece. If it all gets done then it's off to New England on a road trip this fall. I love Autumn so the Halloween fabrics are my favorite.

  24. I'd love to win the Halloween bundle. Aside from Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday! This summer I am going to finish the Western Washington Shop Hop. I've visited 10 quilt shops already (on Wed. & Thurs.) and will be visiting another 6 (plus going to Multnomah Falls) on Saturday. I also have 2 tops to quilt, 2 quilt kits to make, and 4 table runners, 4 placemats, and 6 zippered bags to make. That should keep me busy most of the summer...lol

  25. The cherry fabrics are gorgeous, especially the blue w/pink cherries. I will spend part of my summer helping out son/DIL with their soon to be born baby girl (their third child). Then, back to work as I prepare for retirement in December. There is a lot to get wrapped up in my office but I plan to balance that with some much-needed sewing/quilting time. I will PLAY next summer!

  37. The photos of Whistler are beautiful! That's a place I'd like to visit someday. This summer we will be going to the beach with my husband's extended family, and will also attend my family's big July 4th picnic in Pittsburgh. Our son, who lives 900 miles away, will be at both of these gatherings -- hooray! We also have a hiking trip to Maine planned, but not until the fall. I plan to do lots of sewing this summer, as well. The fabrics are lovely, for some reason I am always excited about Halloween fabrics.

  38. I don't currently have plans for this summer (other than getting in shapes), however, in October I'm going on my first ever vacation to Washington DC. I'm so excited about the trip and getting to ride on a plane. It will be the furthest I've ever been away from home before.
