HOPE + OPEN = "HOPEN" - A NEW WORD FOR A NEW YEAR

Ahhh....a gorgeous sunset on this first day of 2011.

I sense lots of possibilities in this new year. According to Webster, a definition of the word new is, "being other than the former." I like that. I am other than my former 2010 self.

I am open and I am full of hope, hence the word "hopen". My friend Opal asked me to pick a word for the year to ponder and use as an inspiration for a creative journey. She picked "savor". Perhaps "savor" life?! My thoughts immediately went to "open", but then the word "hope" had been nudging me and I just didn't feel I could ignore it, so I am officially "open" to "hope" or "hopen".  Hopen. Hopen feels great!!!!! It makes me smile. Of the many possibilities, I am hopen to smiling more this year.

My dear bassett hound Don Frederico aka Fred is smiling!

Kaffe Fassett fabric is most definitely worth smiling about!

And warm cozy memories of my mom under happy quilts will keep making me smile!
Here's to 2011! What's your new word?
